    Seeking help for PC problems

    Anybody;

I've been pulling my hair out the last month or so with my computer (PC) running like shit. Virtually every day it gets to running very slow, I can't scroll down on pages or it's choppy and unresponsive and often times the whole fucking thing freezes up.

I chronically have "page(s) unresponsive" alerts and practically every day I get "Shockwave Flash not responding" and/or "Shockwave Flash has crashed" alerts which seems to fuck up my searching for forum porn content to post here.

I've done Web searches for this problem and nothing seems to work. I've removed the "Shockwave" program and re-installed it and nothing gets any better.

I use WinXP and typically use Chrome for a browser. I have already uninstalled Chrome and re-installed it (lost many good bookmarks for porn) but now it's running like shit again.

I hate IE and have never used Firefox or any other browsers.

Now I've been cleaning with CCleaner ( www.piriform.com/ccleaner ) almost daily for the fucking machine to run half way decent.

Any of you guys have any advice or tips? I really would rather not uninstall Chrome again and have to log all my bookmarks if I can avoid it.

    Many thanks.

I've heard schockwave (flash) had problems in Chrome. Here is a little info to check on the plugins.

Re: Seeking help for PC problems

hey tinkie old systems do this windows XP is just way old as is my windows vista

I now prer IE with ad block plus over FF in certain websites FF always gets white out page unresponsive etc..

I found success using a free registry error cleaner from that good site for downloads try that because thats proably your problem removing softawre and installing stuff will cause registry errors and your PC goes at snails pace.

IF that don't fix it too a decent speed then time for more mempory to upgrade your XP or just go shell out 150 - 200 for new windows system CD

but first save all your files n pictures to a Gmail account so it's on thier server ........

Re: Seeking help for PC problems

Being on a supported version of MS software is a good first step. I am assuming that you also have installed a current and supported version of anti-virus/malware software. One that includes a protected search function for your browser and a means to monitor your network/router is a good idea. As are add-ons to your browser such as ad/pop-up blockers and javascript disable/enablers. Javascript is a common means of quietly delivering bad things to your computer. I don't use chrome so I can't give you specific products or freebies to look for.

Keeping software current with updates and other maintenance plus taking backups of software and data including bookmarks are sound invest of time over the long run.

Bring 2009 netbook back to life?

    Hello Everyone

"I have an old HP Mini 110 netbook with windows XP still on it. Obviously I'm not going to attempt to take it online these days, that'd be suicidal. I want to use it as a retro gaming system, but to transfer everything by memory stick is a task I'd rather not undertake. I got an additional ram for cheap, so it's up to 2 gigs of ram, it's max. Now I want to swap out XP.

Let me be clear that I don't want to pay one more penny on an obsolete computer with limited capability so I'm not buying windows 10 or anything. I only bought ram because it was so cheap. About the price of two double cheeseburgers and large fries at McDonald's. So what are my options for replacing XP? I know it's old, but there has to be a good option to bring it back to life and online."

Any idea, suggestions would be appreciated ,

    Thanks,

Linux safe to use via wifi?

    Hello Everyone

"I'll be out of town for a few days on an older ( el cheapo ) laptop that has wifi.
I plan to use the wifi from the place I will be staying @.

I have a laptop that has Win 10, but I plan to try out my Linux Mint that I just downloaded ( its on a boottable USB . I don't intend to install a V.M @ this time )

I subscribe to NordVPN ( It's not yet installed on this laptop ) but I was wondering is Linux Mint safe and private to use right out of the box ( figuratively speaking ) protecting my privacy and data etc...

Or is there a VPN I will want to use."

Any idea, suggestions would be appreciated ,

    Thanks,
